With our Bali destination launching in January 2021, resident yogi Marc Laws ll takes us deeper into the spirit of the island, must see spots and how to make the most of your visit in the heart of Asia.
Three days for such a rich experiential island is an adventure in itself. I would say it depends on how you like to travel.
You could pack it all into three days or I prefer to just take my time in one place and get to know it over a small amount of time. If you wanted to spend one day in each place I would recommend Ubud, Uluwatu and Canggu.
Personally, I would go to Ubud and enjoy the Cantika Zest spa, Tjampuhan spa (back to back), the Pyramids of Chi sound baths and the food at Zest, energy smoothie at Yellow Flower and some local food at Cantika Warung.
Lastly, Bali is a great place for spontaneity three days of spontaneity is also fun... see where the winds take you...
If you go to the monkey forest in Ubud watch out for the monkey thieves ha ha.
I’ve seen ladies lose their groceries or purse and yelling are the monkeys allowed to do that.
Those monkeys are straight up gangsters!
I’ve been living in Bali for about 3 years and I see it as the the heart chakra of the world.
Imagine luscious green jungles or open rice fields if you’re in the mountains of Ubud or clearwater of the many inviting coasts of Bali. If you fancy a surf you Uluwatu or Canggu.
The most special part about Bali Is the people, extremely welcoming, happy and humble.
You can feel their spiritual practices and offerings still lingering throughout the land. For me Bali is nature’s sacred luxury still intact on most parts of the island.
Definitely by scooter or bike. Or you can get a driver for the day too.
My favourite place would be Cantika zest spa in Ubud. It is family owned by a powerful and fabulous mother and daughter team, you can feel the love from all of the ladies that do treatments. The ingredients they use grow right on site and they have workshops to teach you how to make the products then use it for your treatment and it’s located in the jungle next to a river.
My favourite treatment is a facial overlooking the jungle whilst being bathed by the sound of river water.
The second is the massage and scrub with a flower bath.
At the end of your treatments (yes, get more than one) kick back in the lounge, do a little bit of shopping and enjoy a fresh ginger tea with honey. If you decide to go tell them Marc, Amanda and baby Sage sent to you you might get a cheeky discount!
In Ubud; Yoga Barn with Mark Whitwell and Radiantly Alive with Meghan Currie
In Canguu; The Practice with Octavio
In Uluwatu; Istana any teacher... the view and experience is class!
In Ubud check out, Locavore of The Four Seasons Sayan for meat. If you're vegan definitely try Zest or Five Elements or Moksha
In your on the Canguu retreat check out Shady Shack or Baked for breakfast and coffee.
To be honest anywhere you can see the sunset or sunrise in the rice fields, forest or if you’re in Canggu, just find the coast; you will be mesmerised.
